PIEMONTE , THE QUEEN OF THE ALPS OF THE SEA: The most important tourist
centre, both in Summer and in Winter, of the Alps of the Sea. Four splendid natural
parks surround it, with more than 100 km of ski slopes, cross-country ski trails
and paths for mountaineering ski lovers. SANREMO:
On the promenade you will be enchanted by the elegance of luxury villas
and smart shops, by Villa Ormond and its wonderful park with Mediterranean and
tropical vegetation, by the ancient Cathedral of San Lorenzo and the Orthodox
Church. Enjoy the magic nights at the Casino, where everybody can be protagonist,
and of course the wonderful flowers which here are everywhere with their colours
and scents. SURROUNDINGS: If you want to discover the
real and genuine Liguria walk through the Roya Valley, the antique "Salt
Route" between the Piedmont mountains and the Mediterranean Sea, or the Nervia
Valley, perhaps one of the most beautiful valleys anywhere on the western Riviera,
or have some horse trekking to Valle delle Meraviglie (Wonders Valley), among
woods and fresh small lakes. And again near the coast, the abundance of water
flowing through the wide, rocky bed of the river Nervia, bursting with vegetation
makes it an area of great natural interest which is known as a "zona umida"
(wetland). The properties of the river are much appreciated by migrating birds
who take refuge there during their long flights in Spring and Autumn, using it
as a breeding ground. The oldest part of Dolceacqua, stands on the left bank
of the river. Here a muddled assortment of houses stands in the shadow of the
Castle of Doria, an important example of military architecture, which stands proud
on the rock like a cathedral. Today the former residences are home to craft workshops
and fragrant wine-shops where one can enjoy the best of generous local wines Rossese
and Vermentino. Apricale, small village right on the top of a hill, with a nice
civic centre which in Summer becomes a well-known open-air theatre. Pigna, ancient
Sanremo’s centre, a suggestive village full of lanes, arches and little squares.
COTE D’AZUR: Impossibile to resist
to Cote d’Azur charm. When you arrive at Montecarlo, you can immediately
feel the class and the elegance of this smart place. A promenade by the sea like
a star, a look at the Prince Palace and a visit at the Casino. Don’t forget
the Croisette of Cannes, the romantic St. Tropez and Nice with the Promenade des
Anglais and the ancient town with the famous clubs open all night long. GROTTE
DEI BALZI ROSSI: The caves Balzi Rossi (Ventimiglia) is most important
archaeological Liguria area. In these wonderful caves right on the sea, the
man lived 200.000 years ago. In the Diano Prehistoric Museum are still preserved
the tracks. THE AQUARIUM OF GENOA: Is
the biggest Aquarium in Europe , with 61 tanks, 6000 specimens of 600 different
species and 1.200.000 visitors every year. Sharks, penguins, jelly fishes, crocodiles
and now something new: the coloured hummingbirds. VILLA
HANBURY: Villa Hanbury; on the cape of the Mortola there is this beautiful
garden with olive trees, vines, palms and cactus. The result is a real Paradise,
a botanical park unique in the world. Some plants come even from Asia and the
Australian Forest WHALE WATCHING: In
front of Liguria there is a stretch of sea which can offer you a really nice meeting.
Every summer 200 whales, dolphins and sperm whales cross this warm water. In this
way it is possible to see these sea mammals in their natural environment without
disturbing them BUSSANA VECCHIA E VALLE ARGENTINA: Near
Sanremo rises Bussana Vecchia – ‘the dead town’ - which was destroyed by
an earthquake in 1887 and then was rebuild - with the help of many artists
who respected the Middle Ages structure - in the 60's. Today it is a wellknown tourist
place with its famous workshops. In this wonderful Valley you can find the towns
of Taggia, a Middle Age centre authentic treasure of culture, and Triora, ancient
centre famous for witches processes and the church with precious frescos. IMPERIA:
The town of Imperia, in the heart of the Riviera dei Fiori on the Liguria
sea, is the result of the union between the towns of Oneglia and Porto Maurizio
and other little towns in the inland. It is located, 40 km from the border with
France and 100 km from Genoa. The very mild climate is ideal for olive trees from
which come the very well known olive oil that has made Imperia famous all over
the world. In fact the olive oil is Imperia's principal product together with
pasta and beautiful flowers cultivated in warm houses The town of Imperia, with
its modern harbor, can host about 600 boats, near by there is also a parking lot
for campers. Imperia is a very quiet and peaceful town, the ideal place to
spend a holiday in relax. CERVO: Cervo
is a village hovered between past and present: at the eastern bound of the Riviera
dei Fiori a group of houses clinged to a mount and collected round the church.
Ancient stairs and narrow lanes lead to the beautiful baroque church " S.
Giovanni Battista ". An enchanting terrace by the sea where every summer
an International Chamber Music Festival takes place. And after the visit
to the Ethnographic Museum in the Castle, enjoy Villa Feraldi immersed among the
olive trees.
